Self-improvement is a journey that anyone who wants to excel in life must take. It does not matter in the area you want to excel and progress, whether it be in your business, in your work, in your studies, in your marriage or spiritually. All aspects of our lives can only truly improve if we take responsibility for their improvement. The most significant area of such development that will impact all other areas of our lives is improving ourselves. So I recently decided to challenge myself to figure out if I could possibly develop an aspect in my life that has been giving me so much anxiety for a long time and my oh my has it been challenging. The struggles of living a healthy lifestyle and becoming physically fit! It’s funny how a lot of us think that self-improvement isn’t a big deal, however, when you decide to change something about yourself that has become a part of you, it is pretty difficult to cope. Almost like an addiction, you start to miss that particular thing, you begin to overthink about the change you are trying to make, or what your life could be without it. The thing is, when you decide to change something about your experience and improve yourself, physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually, it is always better to take your time. It’s not how fast, it’s getting to the finish line’ in one piece, no matter how long it takes. I believe it’s always better to take it to step by step – ‘baby steps’ – more like! Learn to enjoy, appreciate, & literally celebrate the change you have made and not how much change you proposed to make – because overthinking about ‘what could have been, may eventually scare you and make you give up. So take it ‘One day at A Time’. Just remember that this life is about the constant and never-ending movement toward change – for the better. Don’t worry about what other people think about you, hold on to a good perception about yourself and focus on ensuring that every day. You are taking a step in the right direction, that every day you are making a step to a ‘better You, & that every day you are doing something that will eventually lead to a happy and fulfilled meaningful life. Remember, it might not make sense to other people but if it makes sense to you and you believe that you are positively improving yourself daily, then, by all means, stick to your plan and forget about what other people think. You are changing for yourself and not for other people. The danger in derailing toward changing for other people is that you will find it very difficult to stay on course. However, if you change because you have identified that there is a problem, and something needs to be done about that problem for you to be a happier person, then it is very possible to stick to the course YOU HAVE CHOSEN! It is possible to stay focused on your plan to achieve your goal because you have made a conscious decision ON YOUR OWN to change yourself. So what are you waiting for? Start now! Not tomorrow but today! Challenge yourself, surprise yourself! You will be surprised how much better you will feel about yourself and how much happier you will be when you are improving yourself. I for one can’t wait to see where my journey to ‘Self Improvement’ will take me, and I am looking forward to being the best version of myself in whatever time it will take me to achieve it!
