Chisom Ogbummuo

Chisom Ogbummuo is the Founder and Executive Director of The Conversation Café, a safe space for transformative and educative conversations and societal activities that engender social impact.

 

She is the producer of HER, a short film that spotlights the current and thematic issues relating to the girl child on period poverty,

child marriage, sexual and reproductive health issues.

 

In 2016, she set up the Association of International Affairs for students of her alma mater to create awareness and participation in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

 

Chisom runs a Sanitary bank under the Conversation Cafe which provides

hygienic and sustainable sanitary care kits, sensitization and safe spaces for

teenage girls and teenage mothers in low-income communities.

 

In 2018, she was a nominee for the ELOY awards category for Empowerment and in 2019, she won the category for social entrepreneur of the year. 

 

In 2020, She was recognized for her incredible work as one of the top ten finalists for the Nigerian prize for difference and diversity. 

In 2021, she was a nominee for the HER NETWORK WOMAN OF THE YEAR awards in the category of community service , abs as well recognized  by the Malta Guinness brand recognized her as a goodness icon. 

 

Chisom has been an active player and engaged in multiple leadership and strategic roles in various model United Nations simulation conferences , whilst her short film, HER, the movie has been screened globally in places such as UNITE 2030 UN global, the University of Toronto, Canada.

 

Chisom is a seasoned speaker, moderator and panelist on varying social issues who co-hosted TW Conversations, a television talk show focused on societal and national issues who is also an on-air radio personality and podcaster at a leading digital radio station, Africa Business Radio.
